In platform diving there is a saying that goes “where the head goes the body will follow”. This is due to gravity. The same can be said if applying enough force to the chin. Reverse gravity. The body will follow the head. With enough force you can take him to the ground or bash the back of his head into an object. Open Hand Self-Defense Technique 2 A spearhand with the tips of the fingers or the knuckles of a partially closed hand to the throat can be devastating and potentially lethal. Depending on where the strike lands and how much force is applied the assailant can be severely injured. If the strike crushes the larynx, trachea or windpipe they may not be able to breathe. Most any strike to the throat will cause partial breathing problems. At the very least they will be in severe pain and will most likely allow you to escape. Open Hand Self-Defense Technique 3 Attacking the eyes or nasal cavities with the fingers may be the best self-defense tactic as an initial strike. Especially for women’s self-defense. Many women have longer and stronger fingernails than men. Acrylic nails or polish can make them even stronger and can potentially cause more damage. If you can attack the eyes or nasal cavities there is no fighting defense the assailant can use to stop you. The eyelids and nose contain very weak muscles. They will not be able withstand an attack from your finger or fingers. As repulsive or gory as it may seem gouging out their eyeballs or ripping the nostrils out of their nose may be your only option. Causing someone not to be able to breathe or crushing the back of their skull on a hard surface could be another circumstance. When your survival is on the line the only thing you must be thinking about is surviving. Even after applying any of these self-defense techniques a barrage of strikes may be needed. The attacker must be rendered helpless or you must be able to escape without being seriously injured.
